Story From Founder
I never intended to step into the realm of Pashmina; it quietly beckoned me.
Decades ago, my cousin brother migrated to the USA and sent me a few exquisite Pashmina samples. I didn’t realize it then, but those understated pieces would alter the trajectory of my life.
Driven by a growing curiosity, I travelled to Nepal to immerse myself in the craft — to study its heritage, its artisans, and its meticulous processes.
What began as a simple gesture evolved into a profound calling, a passion that eventually shaped itself into my life’s work.
I fell in love with the craft.I fell in love with the feel of raw fibre in my hands, the smell of fresh dye, the rhythm of the loom, the quiet concentration of the artisans. What began as an opportunity soon became my calling.
In 1994, with no big capital and no certainty, only passion and the willingness to work hard – I started Singh Cashmere.
From day one, I did everything myself. Learning, failing, observing, improving, and slowly shaping the business into what it is today.
Even now, after all these years, I still go to the factory every single day. I instruct my workers, I check the yarn, I mix dyes myself, and I personally inspect every finished piece before it leaves our hands. I cannot stay away. This craft has become a part of my identity.
In this journey, I have built friendships across Europe, the UK, and many corners of the world. People who trusted me when I was young and unknown. Some clients have stayed with me for more than 20 years. They have seen my work evolve, and I have seen their families grow and they have seen mine. We built a relationship far deeper than business.
But the heart of this company is not the export numbers or the orders, but
it is the people who work beside me.
My workers are not just employees; they are my team, my support system, my people. Many of them have been with me for decades.
I didn’t go looking for Pashmina. It found me, shaped me, and became a part of who I am. Singh Cashmere is not just a business to me. It is my journey, my pride, and my legacy — built stitch by stitch, relationship by relationship.
